A Dragon's Demand

VenomFang peering down on Bralleros, contemplating the taste a half-elf might have in satiating his current hunger. Holding back those desires the dragon engages Bralleros to learn more about what events might bring forth a courageous, borderline foolish adventurer. Was this pest one of the cultists that had infiltrated the outskirts of his domain? Jumping down from the perch to better intimidate Bralleros, Venomfang spots his cohorts hiding amongst the tree line. Calmly calling out their cowardice.

The dragon contemplates for a minute, then offers them a choice. Die or chase the cultists away and live.

Deeper into Town

The party begin to make their way towards the area the dragon informed them the cultists would be. Walking along the path, Lansilar has a flashback to the town as a kid. He knows the building they are walking past, it's the herbalist shop. Formerly owned by the family of Mirna Dendrar. The family the party recovered from the depths of Tresendar Manor in Phandalin. Merric being true to his rogue nature recalls the heirloom she mentioned was still inside! The party enter and retrieve the heirloom

Cautious Approach

Leaving the shop the party continue toward the Southwest side of the town. Eyeing through an abandoned cottage, what appears to be a well kept building on the outskirts. The party agree to split their approach in an attempt to surround the building. Jynrn and Lansilar head south. Merric, Khan, and Keladark move directly through the cottage. Bim and Bralleros make their way into the woods just north of the cottage.

For most the going is smooth, but Bim and Bralleros find themselves face-to-face with six Twig Blights. The two quickly dispose of the blights while taking only some minor scraps from the rough razor like bark of the Blights. Quickly moving themselves into position with the group that passed through the cottage.

As they approach the cottage, Merric determines the door is fortified and locked. Keladark rears back and throws his shoulder into the door. The door creaks and groans, but remains unyielding to the dwarfs strength. Khan slightly brushes the dwarf to the side, kicks the door straight off the hinges. Keladark, with semi-hatred of the half orc, mutters "I loosened it for you".

Cultists

Khan rushing into the house, quickly draws his sword. Pinning one cultists to the wall while swinging the sword at the other cultists they see. The door between rooms quickly flies open and Favric stands in the doorway shouting "Stop, we mean you no harm. We are only here to treat with the dragon." Keladark and Merric move into the overly small room.

Jynryn and Lansilar approaching the back door, hear the bangs of Keladark and Khan kicking open the front door. They attempt to shoulder their way through the back door to the cottage as well. Failing on the first attempt. Favric commands the other cultists in the room to open the door. In flies Jynryn and Lansilar ready for a fight, but themselves in a semi standoff.

After some tense discussions and seeking to learn more about the cultists, their desires with the dragon, and the nature of the dragon itself. An offer to ally up and defeat the dragon is agreed too. Although, not everyone in the party is comfortable with the alignment

Dancing with a Dragon

Returning back to the watchtower at the highest point in town, the party spread out in an attempt to ambush the dragon. Not trusting the cultists, each member of the party partners up with one of the cultists. Bralleros attempts to toss out an illusion card to confuse the dragon. He shouts in Draconic for the dragon to appear. Leaping onto the tower the dragon unleashes a a rush of what appears to be green flame from it's mouth, straight at the illusion. And the battle begins. The dragon leaps down onto the illusions and eyes Bralleros.

Khan in a feat of heroism leaps from the tree line and attacks the dragon from behind. Dealing an hulkian blow to the dragon. The dragon snaps around barely missing the half-orc with its tail strike, before landing a massive blow with it's jaws. Khan is knocked unconscious and bleeding profusely on the ground. Merric rushes to his aid and stabilizes the warrior as the dragon turned it attention back to Bralleros.

Damage reins in from the party as all send everything they have at the dragon. The cultist seeing an opportunity after Khan is dropped in a single stroke, turn on the party. Not built to fight, they all struggle to make their attacks on the party.

Continuing their focus on the dragon, damage showers into the dragon! In an effort to level the field, the dragon unleashes a burst of green flame at the Bim, Bralleros, and Lansilar. Everyone takes considerable damage from the attack. Launching himself into the air the dragon soars high into the sky to gain an aerial advantage.

After taking more damage while rising the sky the dragon cuts its loses and flies north, leaving the party to fend with the remaining cultists and tend to their wounds, having taken quite the beating from the dragon.
