Recap
The King's chambers
Gathering strength, the party sneaks up the hallway. Catching pieces of an argument happening on the other side of the door.
"The dwarf has been delivered, I expect to be rewarded for completing the Black Spider's demands"
"If you think defying the Black Spider is advantageous, you'll only find disappointment"
Catching the arguing pair by surprise, Keladark charges through the door. Breaking it from the hinges the door falls the ground. Throwing a javelin at the burly bugbear, later found to be King Grol, sitting at the table.
Crashing into the room, the rest of the party filters in ready for a fight. Engaging the dark elf, the other side of the argument, with spiritual weapons and burning hands. Elowen's companion, Nagini, engaging the large wolf in the corner and landing a vicious attack.
The party make quick work, dispatching their enemies with an air of prejudice. Keladark in a rage, decapitates the drow. Its body transforming, shapeshifting, into a muscular humanoid form comprised of dark tissues. Sharp muscular tissues covering a firm skeletal facial structure.
Jynryn sprinting to the beaten and battered dwarf on the floor. Discovering Gundren unconscious on the floor, gasping for air as she revives the dwarf. Bim searching the room, discovers a leather sack under the bed. A few potions of healing, and a folded map, which Gundren is frantic to locate.
A feast of nightshade
The party debates whether to abandon the castle having found Gundren and the map. Eagerness to ascertain the fate of the goblins in the feasting hall gets the better of the party. They sneak their way back to scene of the plan, listening closely at the door for any sign of the goblins within. Bralleros pushes the door adjar to a room of goblins collapsed on the floor. Making their way through, and picking any worthy goods off the goblins.
Lansilar peaks around the corner to see two resting goblins in a disheveled, slipping back into the hall to warn the others of the danger.
The three front battle
Bralleros, Keladark, and Jynryn make their way towards the goblins, while the rest of the party make their way to exit the north part of the hall and explore deeper in the castle.
As the first group rounds the corner they discover an additional goblin on the left side of the room, hidden behind the rubble. Engaging the goblins, Bralleros, quickly dispatches the hidden goblin, scorching it with an eldritch blast, as Jynryn and Keladark pin the other goblins into the corner with strong melee attacks.
Lansilar's curiosity gets the better of him, opening the door into the unknown guard tower, walking straight into two goblins. Thinking quickly he retreats back in to the hall and transforms into a wolf. Attempting to pretend to be King Grol's wolf snarl, the goblins fearful of the wolf, quickly recognize it is not Snarl and attack. Bim, spying the engagement from a distant corner, spring to action as the goblins attack. Spraying the closest goblin with a ray of frost, dealing lethal cold damage.
Merric eagerly enters the northern guard tower. Surprising two goblins, he closes the door behind him, ready for fight! Weilding his newly acquired longsword Talon, Merric unfamiliarity with blade betrays him as he misses on his first swing. He regains composure and slashes one of the Goblins with a sharp blow. Sensing he's lost the upper hand, he retreats back into the hall, making his way back to Bim in the middle of the open area. The fights merge into one brawl as Bralleros appears in the southern door, an unknowing rescuer.
A betrayal of magic
Bralleros opens the door straight into a full fight. He watches as the other half of the team look occupied with closing out the fight they found. A ray of frost from Bim catches a Goblin to the North, freezing the Goblin solid, it shatters to pieces as it falls to the ground. Merric pulling out his crossbow engages the remaining Goblin to the North piercing it through the eye with a well placed cross bolt.
Bralleros eyeing a nearby Goblin, hurls an eldritch blast at the Goblin. The casting feels off, like there is a resistance when attempting to touch and channel the magic. Especially for a cantrip. The magic surges through Bralleros's hands, and killing the Goblin, yet there is a rebounding of magic, like the spell is fighting the caster.
A moment of silence
Dispatching all the Goblins, the party circles up in the entryway. Jynryn performs healing to all, helping restore most of the party to full health. Bralleros, still feeling the effects of the miscast spell, feels an intense sensation of pain deep in his mind. His eyes glaze matte grey as he attempts to reach his patron.
Bane's response is sharp, a stark reminder of what Bralleros has given up to obtain magical abilities. "You dare defy my command, you try my patience"
The circle is interrupted by a group of four hobgoblins, curious why the typically noises of the Goblins have gone quiet.
Thunder shakes the castle
Rallying to their feet the party party engages. Lansilar sprints boldly into the middle of the group of enemies. Arms stretched out wide, he slams his hands together and a massive clap of thunder and concussive wave erupt from his position. Three of the Hobgoblins are thrown viciously backwards into the walls of the hall, dead before their bodies hit the stone floor. Bralleros is unfortunately too close to the epicenter is thrown backwards, caught by surprise at the force the Druid released. One lone survivor lowering his arms is struck immediately in the head by an arrow. Dropping dead, as two Goblins, dressed in ripped and shabby clothes, come rushing into the room hearing the blast of thunder. Nagini, quickly takes down one of the Goblins with a lethally accurate strike. One final straggler peaks through the door as a perfectly placed crossbolt from Merric combined with a forceful axe swing from Keladark closes the curtains on the enemies the castle has to offer.
Exhaustion sets in
The party find themselves wiping sweat from their brows. The night has slipped way into the early hours of the next day. The adrenaline begins to settle in their veins, as the reality of their weariness and tiredness set in. They quickly search the remaining rooms for weapons and treasure. They retreat back to the makeshift holding spot just set back off the wood line at the edge of the meadow.
